Matt Parry's hopes of building on his top five Formula Renault Eurocup result in Hungary were dashed by a weekend of technical problems at Paul Ricard.

The reigning McLaren Autosport BRDC Driver of the Year was frustrated by electrical issues throughout the meeting but, despite being unable to show his true potential, still managed to record the Fortec Motorsport team’s only point after defying the gremlins and racing from 21st on the grid to take tenth place at the chequered flag in race two.

“The results mask the real story of our weekend – particularly fighting back through the field to claim a point on Sunday,” Parry maintained, “We were unable to shake the electrical issues, but still managed to get a point when it looked impossible. Passing isn’t easy in this category, but I still managed to pick up eleven places and that was encouraging as we look forward to the final rounds of both the ALPS and Eurocup at Jerez next month. Hopefully, we can look forward to a successful end to what has been a trying season.”
